An incredible example of a "Strangler Fig" tree located just outside the town of Yungaburra.

Strangler Fig trees grow by "strangling" a host tree, implanting a seed high in the tree and then growing their roots down towards the ground.

The "curtain" effect in this example was created as the strangler fig grew on a tree that had fallen at an angle and the roots growing down from the horizontal trunk resemble a curtain.

For centuries, roots have formed from top to bottom, creating a "root curtain" that has choked off the host tree over time.
The roots now have a circumference of more than 39 mezers.
    Really worth seeing natural wound.
