The history of the Granatalm (2,095 m) begins in 1976. When skiing on the Penkenjoch was still in its infancy and only one chairlift was in operation, the father of today's innkeepers already recognized the potential and was looking for a tenant for a ski hut business.

Since the summer season of 2004, the business has been run by Christa Kröll-Brindlinger under the name Christa`s Skialm. Due to the enormous development in recent years, it was necessary to adapt and realign the restaurant to today's circumstances.
