St. Mary Sorrowful Mother Jackerath

The church in Jackerath was built in neo-Gothic style between 1854 and 1858 according to plans by the Cologne architect Vincenz Statz. The tower was built in 1866 to plans by an architect named Weise. During World War II, the church was so badly damaged that the vault in the nave and choir collapsed. After the war, the missing vault was replaced by a flat ceiling. The vaults are only preserved in the two aisles.
