Tips

  • Stadtpfarrkirche St. Johannes - The Stadtpfarrkirche St. Johannes is located in the middle of Erding next to the Barrierenplatz, slightly hidden behind the Stadtsparkasse Erding and simply wants to be discovered. A visit to the venerable neo-Gothic church, which was built in the 14th century, is very worthwhile because of its well-preserved interior, which is well worth seeing. The magnificent nave has many details from bygone times. The pulpit, the altar as well as the organ and the aisles invite you to admire them in detail. And if you come away from the main time, a wonderful silence awaits you, which invites you to contemplate and pray.

  • Construction began, probably at the end of the 14th century, replacing an old baptismal church. The choir was completed between 1410 and 1420. After the nave was completed, the church was consecrated in 1464. Choir arch crucifix by Hans Leinberger around 1525. After damage in the Thirty Years' War and the city fire of 1648, the church was rebuilt in the Baroque style from 1668 to 1689. The Gothic vault ribs were replaced by stucco ornaments. The Gothic altars were lost except for a few sculptures. Source and further information
