According to legend, after the discovery of a miraculous statue of the Virgin Mary under a linden tree in 1511, a first prayer house was built on the spot. This was replaced several times, until in 1862 the current chapel was built in neo-Gothic style to a design by priest-architect Clarysse.Due to the growth in the number of pilgrims, the chapel was expanded for the last time in 1870. The chapel and the house of the chapel keeper have been protected as a monument since 2003. Organ concerts are given annually on the authentic 18th-century historic Spanish organ. Especially during the month of May, numerous pilgrims come to the chapel and the beeweg of Gaverland.More info at beveren.be/nl/vrije-tijd-toerisme/uniek-beveren/kapel-olv-van-gaverland
