First of all, it is certainly one of the most impressive and unusual natural landscapes in Crete. They lie west of Chania and are administratively part of the municipality of Kissamos. They are also called sand dunes, and in fact, they are separate hills of soft clay. This clay has been subject to erosion over time, creating these wonderful conical shapes that place it on the list of Crete's most impressive natural attractions.
