In 1949 Werner and Heinrich von Trott erected the memorial cross above Imshausen for their brother Adam von Trott zu Solz, who was murdered in 1944. Over the years, the cross has become an impressive landmark, stimulated thought and, like the memory of Adam von Trott, motivated to work for the preservation of democracy and peace.
In 1999 the cross was renewed, but fell victim to the storm "Friederike" in January 2019 and was replaced by a newer, smaller memorial cross in July 2018.
Annually on July 20th A memorial service takes place at the Mahnkreuz on the occasion of the murder and in memory of Adam Trott zu Solz. Celebrities from Politk (Foreign Minister Heiko Maas) and the Church (Margot Käßmann, Bishop Dr. Hein) have already given commemorative speeches here.
