We have been living in Gießen for a short time and have visited the Schiffenberg monastery and the beer garden several times and learned to appreciate them.
There are also overnight accommodations and the restaurant kitchen is not to be scoffed at either. The adjoining forest around the Schiffenberg offers many possibilities... hiking... cycling or a climbing forest invite you.
