The evangelical castle church of St. Bartholomew is situated on a hill, together with the vicarage, within the surrounding castle wall. The ring of walls is surrounded by loopholes and a semi-circular shell tower on the east side. The mighty early Gothic choir tower of the former fortified church was built around 1300. The pointed arch portal on the west side dates from 1521. The church in Herleshausen is an open church, unfortunately it is closed at the moment (September 2022) due to construction work.
