History and architecture lovers will appreciate the Château de la Robetiėre in Dreux. This is a former royal castle which dates from the 12th century and was the seat of the Counts of Dreux, a branch of the Capetian dynasty. The castle was destroyed by the English in 1421 during the Hundred Years War, but some of its ruins are still visible, such as an old defense tower.
