I wouldn't necessarily want to drive south from the marked point, because it will be uncomfortably steep at some point. In the opposite direction, however, it is one of the most fun places around! A MTB can certainly do no harm, but the path is by no means over here, it even bifurcates! (As Nino has already written: The tree has long been removed.)
