From mid-September to mid-November is the best time to pick apples yourself at one of the fruit farms southwest of the Elbe and enjoy a few autumn rays of sunshine and fresh air. Many farms offer baskets that you can pick yourself, similar to strawberry plantations, and you can often get fresh juice or cider from nearby cider plants.
