in the green area at Marktstraße 2
designated: 0.5 to Bergzabern; 35 kilometers; 14.5 to Landau; IV hours from Landau and Weissenb...
    (at a distance of 3.7 km, 4 hours = 14.8 km)

The kilometer stones are a form of spacer stones that developed from the older hours and milestones at the end of the 19th century.
Since the Palatinate belonged to Bavaria at the time, forms that were common in Bavaria can be found here.

From 1871, larger stones were planned in the Kingdom of Bavaria at intervals of 7.5 km (German mile). After the mile was abolished as the official distance measure, a distance of 5 kilometers was set for the revised hour markers in 1873. In between, narrow rectangular stones were set up. Starting from central locations (“residences”) such as Speyer, Zweibrücken, Bergzabern and Neustadt, the kilometers branched out in a star shape; in some cases, the kilometer marking also begins at the junction with a higher-ranking road. The course of the later federal roads 10, 38 and 272 essentially goes back to Bavarian state roads. The remaining roads marked with milestones were classified as district roads.

The mostly tapered 5 kilometer stones bear the number and the word kilometer towards the street. On the side are distances to the next important places. The style of the "German" typeface differs from region to region. The writing field was originally painted white and the writing extended in black.

There is also Kunze's bike shop here
      zweirad-shop-kunz.business.site
Perhaps more of a surreptitious advertisement and not a highlight, but if something breaks on the bike, such a local shop is still worth its weight in gold.
