The Joachimsthalsche Gymnasium (also: Joachimsthaler Gymnasium) was a princely school for gifted boys founded in Joachimsthal in 1607, which was located in Berlin between 1636 and 1912 and in Templin from 1912.
The high school in Templin was closed in 1956 and the building was used for other purposes until 1996; It stood empty until around 2021 and was in danger of falling into disrepair. The support association “Joachimsthalsches Gymnasium Templin e.V. has existed since 2013. V.”, an initiative to re-establish the high school as a boarding school in Templin, and the first security work could begin. On December 6, 2018, the Board of Governors of the European Schools - the representatives of the 28 education ministers of the EU member states - decided to open the accreditation process for a European School Templin (EST). The historic buildings are listed buildings.
