Please check local regulations for: Parc national de la Vanoise (cœur)
Location: Peisey-Nancroix, Albertville, Auvergne Rhône Alpes, France
The protected area was established in 1963 as France's first national park to protect the pristine high mountain world of the interior of the Vanoise Massif and to preserve the endangered Alpine ibex, the last of which survived in the neighboring Italian Gran Paradiso National Park to the east. Since 2000, the Vanoise National Park has been on France's tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage sites.
