The town hall tower was part of Bad Homburg's medieval city fortifications. The tower that still stands today was built in 1711 on the foundations of the original structure.

The town hall tower was part of the city fortifications in the 14th century. Between 1603 and 1656, victims of the witch hunt were imprisoned here until their execution. At least 75 people were convicted and executed for witchcraft in Homburg, including 61 women and 14 men.

To commemorate and rehabilitate these people, the city has placed a sign on the town hall tower commemorating this inglorious chapter in its history.

The interior of the listed tower is unfortunately not open to the public.
