The old Billwerder railway embankment is an approximately 120-year-old landscape structure on which railway tracks actually used to run. A footpath now leads along the dam, it is a species-rich dry habitat in which, for example, the rare Carthusian carnation, which is on the Red List of endangered species, occurs. A total of 142 different plant species occur on the railway embankment, 33 of which are on the Red List. But this area also plays a special role for animals: especially for insects such as wild bees. 153 different bee species were found on the railway embankment.
