the Botanic garden is stunning but is NOT ALLOWED TO BIKE there. I suggest to park the bike outside and take a walk inside. Absolutely worthy

When you think of Frankfurt you see skyscrapers, but the abundance of parks and gardens is huge.

dr Johann Christian Senckenberg, the famous Frankfurt doctor, natural scientist and botanist, founded the Dr. Senckenberg Foundation, from which, among other things, plants with medicinal plants emerged. Physicians supervised it, it was a place of teaching and training and served as a reservoir for medicinal plants. This one hectare botanical garden was completed in 1774 - at that time located at the Eschenheimer Turm. In 1907 it was reopened on the eastern edge of the Palmengarten and enlarged at the same time. The plants were grouped according to ecological aspects, and the Goethe University, founded in 1914, also used them for research purposes.

In 2012, the City of Frankfurt finally took over ownership of the property and attached it to the Palmengarten. Today it is a place of relaxation and nature education - and in the spring of loud croaking of frogs. Here you will find labeled plant communities from all continents and a separate area with medicinal and medicinal plants. The facility contributes to species protection by maintaining its diverse plant collections with over 5,000 species and a seed bank. Those interested can look forward to regular botanical and zoological tours and lectures.
