Ponte della Maddalena (Caprera Causeway)

The island of Caprera is part of the archipelago of La Maddalena, belonging to the municipality of La Maddalena on the north-eastern coast of Sardinia. Sparsely populated, most of the inhabitants reside in the Borgo di Stagnali. The island of Caprera is entirely included in the national park of the Archipelago of La Maddalena, a marine and terrestrial protected area of national and community interest. In particular, the marine area in front of the Punta Rossa area, the extreme southern offshoot of the island, is an area of maximum environmental protection, with Cala Andreani and the beach of the Relitto. The eastern ridge of the island is a land area with integral protection, while the marine area in front of Punta Coticcio, including Cala Coticcio, is protected by provisions of the national park managing body.
