The parish in Swornegacie has a long and interesting history. The first mention of the village is given in the document of Pope Gregory X of July 15, 1272, which entrusts the Augustinian order located here to the care of the Chełmno bishops. There was a Church of St. st. John the Baptist. The founder of the order was the Pomeranian prince Mestwin II and his wife - Duchess Eufrozyna. The village obtained the location privilege in 1291 from Mestwin II. This document is significant because it was issued by the prince directly in Swornegacie in the presence of 14 high officials of the Pomeranian Duchy. The presence of so many distinguished guests testified to the fact that a meeting was held in Swornegacie at that time, at which matters of national importance were discussed. And one of them was undoubtedly the donation of the Sworzyń Forest to the convent of monks of St. Augustine. The Augustians did not experience peace in Swornegacie. The monastery was often attacked during the Teutonic Knights. For this reason, Wenceslaus II allowed in 1303 the merger of the Augustinians with the Cistercian order in Oliwa.
