Bike Touring Highlight
The lower gate formed the entrance through the former city wall from the west. The tower is a kind of replacement for the towerless Jesuit church, which is directly adjacent.

Former city gate which was probably first mentioned in 1263. The approximately 40-meter-high tower had the surname Schnäbelintor in the 13th to 14th century after the then mayor Ulrich Schnäbelin.

Another geographical feature:
Unlike here in the Alpine foothills, the LOWER gate is not in the north (down towards the Danube) and the UPPER gate is not in the south towards the mountains.
Here you can remember it because there is no clear gradient:
The LOWER gate is right next to the Mindel, which likes to flow down or down, as is usual with water.
