Mentions date back to 1175, the year in which Blessed Alberto da Chiatina, later archpriest of Colle di Val d'Elsa, became rector for two years, and with greater certainty from 1262.The church has undergone notable changes over time. In the second half of the 18th century, the Romanesque temple was raised, remodeled inside by the incorporation of columns, arches and vaults, and completed on the façade with the two-flight entrance staircase. The 20th century restorations aimed to restore the medieval forms of the gabled façade, the bell tower and the courtyard.
