A Romanesque church with a tower was built here around 1200. Only a Romanesque lintel in the tower portal has survived from this church. In 1393 the Romanesque church was destroyed and then rebuilt in the Gothic style. All that remains of the Gothic church are the round stone columns with Maas capitals under the pointed arches in what is now the nave. The late Gothic marlstone tower was built around 1500, possibly using the substructure of the old tower. In 1722 the Gothic nave was replaced by a Baroque nave.

The Sint-Martinuskerk is a church building in the hamlet of Breust in the town of Eijsden, in the Dutch South Limburg municipality of Eijsden-Margraten. The building is surrounded by a cemetery. There is a square on the north side. The motte of Eijsden with a natural source used to be on the south side. About 500 meters southwest of the church on the Vroenhof is the church of the village of Eijsden itself: the Sint-Christinakerk.
