      Very beautiful, even in autumn.
Please be careful not to trample the plants in the neighboring field when taking photos.

“In the beautiful forests of Corselitze there is Denmark's largest tree - the magnificent Valdemarseg (German Waldema oak) with 100 m3.

The largest tree is measured not by height or diameter, as one might think, but in cubic meters. Therefore, the Valdemarsegen is neither the tallest nor the thickest tree in Denmark, but the tree with the largest volume - an impressive 100 m3. The Valdemarsegen has a diameter of about 3 meters and a height of over 25 meters, making the tree fascinating and unique.

It is not known which King Valdemar the oak is named after, but the story goes that King Valdemar stopped by the tree and tied his horse to it. Since this magnificent tree is “only” 550-600 years old, it cannot be one of the kings named Valdemar from Denmark.

In the 20th century, the beautiful oak tree became sick and partially rotted from the inside. The Valdemarsegen was cleaned and patched together with cement. Since then the tree has been doing well and the large hole in the trunk has become slightly smaller as the oak has healed itself.

The Valdemarsegen is located in the Fruens Ege forest – a nice place for a walk.”
