Tips
The spring garden in Henglarn is one of the few places where several spring pots have been preserved. The impressive natural phenomena were created along the Altenau by a special feature in the karst landscape of the Paderborn plateau. In the porous limestone soil of the plateau, most of the precipitation seeps away quickly to collect on impermeable layers in the subsoil. In Henglarn, the water swells back to the surface in large, heavily pouring spring pots and feeds the wetland of the spring garden and the Altenau.
