A stone structure in the Pürwald that resembles an armchair is called the devil's seat.

The legend tells the following story: When the carters once drove to Bohemia with their heavily loaded wagons, a leader was needed to overcome the steep incline through the Pürwald. A carter who wanted to drive up the steep stretch to St. Stefan often had to rest and only got on with great difficulty. When everyone was exhausted, he lashed out wildly, cursed, and called on the devil for help. The devil heard him and helped him over the hill. Glad to have escaped unscathed, he vowed never to use this path again. Night after night the devil waited for the carter, but he never came back.
