Teskendorp is first mentioned in 1271. The name derives from the Slavic personal name Teske, perhaps that of the founder.

The church consists of a nave-wide, transversely rectangular west tower and a long nave with a straight east end. In the west, a retracted baroque tower top with a pointed helmet from 1601 rises. In the south, an entrance hall was placed, probably in front of the priest's gate. In the case of the sacristy extension in the north-east, at least the lower 5 to 6 layers should still be from the construction period. As with the tower and nave, this is regular fieldstone masonry plastered with visible stone. Joint scratches have often been preserved, as well as the remains of a plaster frieze below the eaves on the north and south sides.
