On some cards it is referred to as "Refuge Preit", but don't be fooled: the "refuge" was simply the keeper's house!
It is a nursery for the cultivation of larch trees, built between the early 1900s and 1935, and abandoned towards the 60s. It has seven horizontal terraces, connected by ladders and slides. At the top is the guardian's house, precisely the "refuge", and at a short distance the original cistern for the collection of rainwater (for irrigation). The area was cleared and reclaimed in 2014, and now offers a bench and a picnic table. There is also a water point, but it is not always active. It is a place with a surreal atmosphere, which almost feels like a secret missile base or the lair of a James Bond villain. It can be reached from several places (Becetto, Sampeyre, Chiot), through paths in excellent condition. Trip also suitable for not very trained people, and highly recommended.
