Please check local regulations for: Dreifelder Weiher
Location: Dreifelden, Westerwaldkreis, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany
The Dreifelder Weiher or Seeweiher (largely a nature reserve) is the largest in the Westerwald lake district with an area of 123 hectares. Its southern part in particular is an extremely valuable breeding bird habitat. During the bird migration period, you can observe resting waders from northern Europe and ospreys from a hidden observation platform near the village of Dreifelden.
The lake district was actually only created in the late 16th century by the Counts of Wied as a fish breeding facility, so the waters are technically neither lakes nor ponds, but rather ponds.

At this point, the Wied flows into the Dreifelder Weiher. Unfortunately, the Wied cycle path does not lead directly past here, but the small detour is worth it, because from here or from the bridge you also have a great view of the lake.
