The settlement Moseborn was first mentioned in documents as Mosebornen in the mid-13th century, in 1397 and 1400 a Johannes (de) Moseborne is mentioned in writing. [3] The chapel of "the hilgen cruces to Moseborn" is documented in 1425. The place was probably desolate in the late Middle Ages, in the Plessian Lehnsbuch he was called in 1568 as deserted. The church ruin is listed on the 1785 map of the Kurhannoverschen country recording as Mauseberger Thurm former church. The ruin is now owned by the Lower Saxony State Forest Administration, 1991/92 was an archaeological investigation and documentation. The ruin was structurally secured, the cornice and the gable inclines supplemented with locally recovered stones.SurnameThe older written mentions describe the place as Moseborn (e). A change of the name in Meiseborn can be found only 1569-74 in the Hessian land book and then again on the kart
