The Hünstollen stands at the highest point in the Plessewald. From the tower there is an excellent view of the western Harz and the Brocken in good weather.
Yesterday (January 4th, 2021) I saw that the viewing platform was closed with boards and the entire tower was also locked. In the past there was also a small hut with management that was abandoned due to repeated riots.

The observation tower on Hünstollen is an absolute recommendation for hikes in the area. Depending on the weather you have a great view of the Harz foreland at the top, even with a clear view even to Brocken. The fact that the outer wall of the tower is completely covered with wood and the viewing platform is additionally protected by a roof, you can take a break even in bad weather here.

The Hünstollenturm was built in 1913 by the Göttingen Beautification Association, expanded in 1927 and increased in 1972.
It stands on historical grounds, because the three-sided protected by steep slopes favorable situation was recognized early. Excavations yielded finds from the Iron Age around 500 BC. And the high Middle Ages (9th-12th centuries).
Trippers especially appreciate the vision, you can see the chunks in the Harz in clear weather.
