Tips

The gorge is always impressive. Sturdy shoes are mandatory and rain gear is an advantage. If you are not that fit, you should go back through the gorge, as the other ways back are very demanding and partly uneven. But at the same time they are very beautiful.

Depending on what time of year it is, I recommend at least a rain jacket. It is also logical that you should also pay attention to sturdy shoes here.
Admission is €6 and parking at the bottom of the stadium is €5. Tip:
There is a toilet at the ticket office.

The path is easy to walk and has great views! The last part leads steeply through a beautiful forest, past very old trees (sycamore and spruce). A great way!

    June - September: 08:00 - 20:00

    October - May: 08:00 - 18:00

The Partnachklamm is open all year round, but may be closed for safety reasons. If this is the case, there are two other ways to avoid the gorge.

The Partnach Gorge is a 700-meter-long gorge in the Reintal near Garmisch-Partenkirchen, cut in places by the Partnach torrent to a depth of more than 80 meters. The bottom of the valley is at about 800 m above sea level. NHN in the middle of the gorge. In 1912 the Partnach Gorge was declared a natural monument. The path always runs on the right side of the stream. In the middle Triassic, about 240 million years ago, dark grey, relatively hard layers of alpine shell limestone, the so-called Wurstelkalk or nodular limestone, were deposited in the area of today's Partnach Gorge on the bottom of a shallow sea. On the bulge-like layers of this rock you can still often find traces of burrowing and eating by the sea creatures of the time. About five million years later, much softer marl was deposited in the same sea basin, which is now known as the Partnach layers. In the course of the later Alpine folding, the so-called Wamberg Saddle was formed from these layers of rock. The erosive force of the Partnach, fed by the Schneeferner on the Zugspitzplatt, was great enough to quickly erode the softer layers, to keep pace with the continuous uplift of the terrain and thus also to cut into the hard alpine shell limestone. Today, in the area of the shell limestone, the river forms the typical narrow valley shape of a gorge, while north and south of it, in the areas of the softer Partnach layers, broader valley shapes prevail.Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partnachklamm
