Reading the information bulletin board, this small house, built at the end of the 19th century, served as a shelter for the royal carabinieri who had the task of supervising the passages towards the Frejus hill, and of stopping smugglers and clandestine emigrants. Anyone who wanted to move to France only in search of work was also considered an illegal immigrant.
