La Motte is an impressive rock formation and remnant of an ancient coral reef that formed in the warm tropical waters of the Iapetus Ocean around 480 million years ago. It is composed of black limestone which contains fossils of various marine organisms, such as bryozoans, corals and gastropods. You will also enjoy breathtaking views of the Grand Muveran and the Franschhoek Valley.
