We were on our Scandinavia round trip with the WoMo in Oslo 🇳🇴 and took a day... Far too little, but it was enough for a small impression. Oslo's largest church ✝... Very impressive and definitely recommended 👍

Oslo's largest church. In 1849, Hamburg's great urban planner Alexis de Chateauneuf won the competition to build a church for the Trinity Congregation. Shortly thereafter he fell ill and his work was taken over by Wilhelm von Hanno, who completed it based on his predecessor's design and modified it a little. The building has a cruciform plan crowned with a copper armored dome in the center and a lantern at the top. The Church of the Trinity was consecrated in 1858 and the entrance staircase was added in 1883. Inside you will find an altarpiece depicting Christ being baptized and an inscription on marble. The stained glass windows in the choir were designed by Frydis Haavardsholm in 1936. In 1956-58 the architects Hoflund, Hvoslef and Slleg renovated the church, replacing the asphalt floor with square slate. The church was rededicated in 1958.
