Between the Martinuskerk (Reformed Church) and the Donge is an attractive piece of nature, a park called Kerkebos. The Martinuskerk (Reformed Church) and the Kerkebos were originally quite central in the village. Later, partly as a result of the floods (including in 1609, 1612 and 1614), part of the buildings were lost and the church and Kerkebos came to be more eccentric in the village. During one of the many floods that hit the village, the Kerkdijk, which runs along the Kerkebos, broke through. A wheel was created behind this breakthrough, after which the dike was re-installed around the wheel. This wheel is still in the Kerkebos.
