Here you can visit a historic moose trap with 10 pitfalls along the trail. Southeast there is another facility with 22 pits.
The catch had to be well organized. Antlers, hides and skins were exported or traded for goods from more southerly regions.
Due to the topography, the animals could not pass the trapping pits. A fence between the pits made the facility very efficient.
The designated path must not be left in order to protect the sensitive reindeer lichens. The pits may also not be entered.

This pit was excavated in 1991. Dating and analyzes of coal finds have shown that these pits were used for longer periods, sometimes for shorter periods, from the Iron Age to the Middle Ages.
The trapping pits had to be deep and narrow so that the moose could not come out again and was easy to kill. At the bottom of the pit there was a wooden trap box with strong stakes in the corners. The pits were probably covered when they were not used for hunting.
