In 1908, the Viennese architect Johann Eustacchio was commissioned to plan the Palace Hotel, which was officially opened on August 20, 1910. The historicist architecture incorporated various stylistic elements from the Neo-Renaissance and the Vienna Secession, and the hotel's entire furnishings were geared to the needs of the upper classes of the Danube Monarchy.
