Rock church in the Pietrapenta area, in the province of Matera, the crypt of the Original Sin is dug into the rock along the wall of the Gravina di Picciano, which is one of the canyons with karst morphology south of Matera. Defined as "the Sistine Chapel of rock art", this cave is characterized by a cycle of frescoes present inside: large pictorial cycles depict episodes of Creation and Original Sin. Matera to Crypt of Original Sin is mostly downhill, return to Matera is uphill, might take up to an hour. I rode in 40C heat,wasn't pleasant. Those who don't like riding in the main highway wouldn't like it. Komoot showed me directions through roads that didn't exist, so used Google Maps in the end
