The Romanesque church of St. Jürgen is a small Protestant church from the 12th century. It is located on a warf (heaped settlement hill in the moor and in the marsh, to protect against flooding, also called Warft, Wurt or Wurth) north of the meandering Wümme in the Bremen blockland. In addition to the church there is also a pastor's house, a baking house and a sexton's house. The church is located on the old Moorkampstrasse, which was part of a connecting route between Bremen and Hamburg in the 9th century.
