After the defeat of Onufry Duchyński's unit at Komotowszczyzna (29.04.1863), some of the survivors moved to the Bielsk district. A 36-person group of insurgents, armed with several shotguns and scythes, was attacked on the evening of 2 May 1863 by Major Bajkowski's column (2 infantry companies, 50 dragoons, a Cossack sotnia). After a short battle, the insurgents were defeated.
