The coal-fired power plant in Peenemünde was built between 1939 and 1942. Because, unlike all other plants in Peenemünde, it was not blown up after the war, it could continue to be used in the GDR and generated electrical energy until 1990. At 92 meters long and 34 meters high, the only large building from the former research institute that has been completely preserved is the largest industrial monument in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
