Leknes, with its 3,000 inhabitants, is one of the few towns in Lofoten that does not live from fishing. This and the rapid growth of the town are the reasons why Leknes does not have the traditional wooden architecture that is so typical. Therefore it is not as picturesque as the other cities here. However, the area around Leknes is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Norway and is ideal for exploring nature. Leknes Port is one of Norway's most important and busiest ports for cruise ships.

Hiking
We stayed in Scandic Leknes Lofoten, which was reasonably priced, had breakfast included and an overall great quality.
They offered us a dryroom for our clothes which really saved us in the Logoten‘s rainy weather!
