Ausgrabung Bliesbruck

Archaeological excavations have uncovered a Celtic necropolis (burial place of the Princess of Reinheim 400 BC), a small town and a Gallo-Roman villa in the peaceful Bliestal. In its heyday, the city had 2,500 souls, with crafts and trades.
It had facilities such as thermal baths, which can be visited in a modern museum pavilion. Public square, current excavation site.

Founded in 1989 and covering a spacious 700,000 square meters, the "Parc Archéologique Européen de Bliesbruck – Reinheim" doesn't just have the word "European" in its name because it sounds so nice and is intended to be effective advertising, but is in fact a piece of living Europe. Here, something magnificent has been created across borders, as the site extends partly into French territory and another part is located in Germany. The comprehensive exhibition thus not only takes visitors back to the Celtic and Roman past of the region, but also indirectly demonstrates the present and future of peaceful coexistence in Europe, for which national borders are no longer an insurmountable obstacle.
