Muckross Abbey (also Muckross Friary (Irish Mainistir Locha Léin) is an important ecclesiastical complex in Killarney National Park in southwest Ireland. The abbey is located about 5 km from Killarney and 1.2 km from Muckross House on Lough Leane in a park-like area in the middle of a cemetery.

The abbey was founded by Franciscans in 1340. However, they soon gave up the system. Donal McCarthy Mor began restoring the site in 1448; the work was to last 50 years. Most of the buildings that have survived to this day date from this period. Throughout its turbulent history, Muckross Abbey has been damaged and rebuilt several times. The different architectural styles make it easy to see that Muckross Abbey was built in several sections. The youngest section of the abbey is the crossing tower, which is as wide as the nave.

The ruins of Muckross Abbey are quite well preserved. Noteworthy is a large yew in the middle of the cloister. The facility is now part of Killarney National Park.

Buried inside the abbey and in the adjoining cemetery are Seafradh O'Donnchadha, Aodhagan O'Rathaille, Eoghan Rua O'Sulleabhain and Piaras Feiritéar.[1] These lived in the 17th and 18th centuries and are known as the "Kerry Poets".
