Urnäsch is the family-friendly residential, working and holiday village in Appenzellerland at the foot of the Säntis massif. The landscape forms the heart and soul of our village. On December 31st and January 13th, strange figures wander through the hinterland of the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden. Some wear decorated hats, others have terrible animal faces. They are "New Year's Eve gnomes" who ring in the old year and welcome the new one.
