In Lenzburg, important traditional events with national appeal take place every year. The youth festival has been the biggest event in Lenzburg for more than 400 years. It takes place every year on the second Friday in July and includes a parade as well as a mock Freischaren maneuver every two years. On the following Saturday, the open-air festival "Metschgplatsch" takes place on Metzgplatz in the old town with young musicians from the region. During the "Joggeliumzug" at the end of October, riflemen dressed in white cloaks parade through the old town with lanterns. This custom originated around 1450 and goes back to a pre-Reformation brotherhood. In November and December, the Chlauschlöpfen follows, which has the purpose of waking up Santa Claus. A more recent custom is the juggler festival in August. In the alleys of the old town, artists from all over the world perform all sorts of tricks; this event always attracts thousands of visitors
