Fjærland is the name of the area around the Fjærlandsfjord, which is a branch of the Sognefjord. Fjærland has about 300 inhabitants. The town center is called Mundal.
In Mundal you will find i.a. School, church, hotels and tourist information. The church was built in 1861 and remodeled in 1931. It is open to visitors.
The Norwegian Book City, which consists of several quaint antiquarian bookshops, is also located in Mundal. When it opened in 1996, it was the eighth of its kind in the world and the first in Scandinavia.
