the first industrial buildings built in the Trapperie area were built over 400 years ago. It was Herman Trappé, former mayor of Liège, who was given permission to build a factory in the course of the Rulles, a tributary on the right bank of the Semois. You should know that in the 16th century, the Rulles Valley was a boon for those who wanted to develop an industrial activity: it brought wood and water. Wood as a fuel essential for the production of iron and water for the hydraulic energy it could provide. Five factories were built with only a few kilometers in between. And for more than 200 years, the region was a real industrial center at the origin of elsewhere on the development of the two Habays and of this entire Rulles Valley.
