Presumably Berching had already been inhabited since the Neolithic period. Since 1245 the market right exists. Berching calls himself "jewel of the Middle Ages". The well-preserved old town wall with four city gates and thirteen towers dates from the 14th and 15th centuries. The park areas are beautifully landscaped beyond the imposing, medieval fortification. Worth seeing are the Chinese tower, the Powder Tower and the Neumarkter gate tower, the historic town hall, the Tehentstadel, the parish church of the Assumption, the "Old Parish Church" St. Lawrence in the suburbs and the pilgrimage church Maria Hilf on the southern outskirts. The city is also known by the annual Rossmarkt, in which politicians make pithy speeches.

Berching has a very nice old town. Worth seeing are the city towers. The location of Berching is also great. Located in the valley on the RMD Canal and Altmühl, surrounded by green hills that hide some surprise.
